It's really interesting watching FreeMesa grow, and seeing it hit new milestones. Unfortunately,
most of the milestones are marked with growing pains caused by a system failure of one kind or another.
For example, the picture uploads failing to work after the upgrade to the new server, or actually having our
ISP think we are running a Spam operation due to the high volume of emails we send out.
Which leads me to an apology...
Last month, we attempted to send out a Newsletter to you guys, the October newsletter, talking about how
the site is growing and so forth. The problem was that this pushed us over the ISP's daily limit on emails,
causing them to stop our mail program from working.
This caused our program error and loop. Long story short, only half of our members ever got the newsletter
in the initial blast, and then we ended up sending the newsletter to the same group of several hundred people
every 12 hours for 4 days....
Oops.
So to the members that we inadvertently spammed, I would like to apologize. We have had a chat with our ISP,
so this shouldn't be happening ever again. On the bright side, FreeMesa has gotten active enough for this to
happen, which is kind of cool.
In other news, I think we have found a package that will enable us to make everything Post Code based, at least
in the US and Canada. In theory, this will enable you to see all the free stuff that is within, say, 20 miles of your
house. This should greatly simplify things, and I hope to roll it out in the next two weeks or so,
but that's a fairly loose target at this point. Updates will be forthcoming. That's pretty much it for now.
Till next time!
